Math- Chambers

Welcome to 6th Grade Math!

I am so excited to start another year of teaching Math! Math is a subject that students seem to either love or strongly dislike, probably because it is either "easy" or the most mentally painful part of their day. My goal is to challenge everyone and help every student learn to see how amazingly awesome Math can be. In Math class we will sing, dance, color-code, rap, create rhymes, build, and in the process solve Math problems. Get ready to have fun!

We will start the year reviewing basic operations (no...not surgery....adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing).  We will focus on what these operations mean, not just on getting the correct answer. My goal is to help students all learn to think Math, talk Math, and share their Math. We all solve problems differently and it is SO COOL to see how we all do it!

First job.... Write Mrs. Chambers a "Dear Mrs. Chambers letter" telling me about the following things:

1. Favorite summer memory (can be more than 1 thing if you have had a totally awesome summer)

2. Tell me about your family (who's in it, what do you like to do as a family)

3. How do you feel about Math? (Yes, you have to be honest....I want to get to know you!)

4. What can I do as your teacher to help you be successful? (Do you need a special seat?  Do you need written out directions? Do you have a hard time taking tests? ANYTHING!)

5. Anything else you want to tell me about yourself? (love to draw, love doing projects, love listening to music, love playing sports)

If you are struggling with how to start your letter, I will help you.
Dear Mrs. Chambers,
I think you are incredibly awesome! Let me tell you more about myself. This summer I loved....(now you continue  =) )
